Pedestrian (70s) dies in hospital after being struck by car in Co Down

A pedestrian has died in hospital almost a week after being struck by a car in Co Down.

The man, aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital following the single vehicle crash in Donaghadee last Thursday.

The pensioner spent six days in intensive care following the collision which involved a white Toyota Auris in the Meadows area of the town.

It happened just before 8pm.

PSNI Detective Sergeant McIvor confirmed on Wednesday that the man died from his injuries.

They added: “Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information, including dashcam, CCTV or other footage, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1564 of 23/11/23.”
