Sinn Féin has tabled a motion of no confidence in Justice Minister Helen McEntee over her response to the Dublin riots last week.

In a statement this morning, party leader Mary Lou McDonald said: “We cannot have a Justice Minister who refuses to acknowledge the political failures that allowed our communities to become unsafe.

"Sinn Féin has been forced to put down a motion of no confidence in the Minister for Justice because this government is not listening.”

SF has called for both the justice minister and the Garda commissioner Drew Harris to go over their response to the riots last week in the wake of the stabbing of three children and a woman outside a school on Parnell Square.

The vote on Ms McEntee is due to take place on Tuesday.
