Lazio fans unfurl huge anti-Irish banners at Celtic game in Rome
One of the banners read: “The famine is over, go home f***ing potato eaters”, while another banner that was photographed outside Rome’s Stadio Olimpico read: “Did the Fenian bastards take shower today?”

Fans of Italian club Lazio greeted Celtic to Rome last night by unfurling a number of anti-Irish banners.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were in Rome for their Champions League Group E clash with thousands of Celtic fans in attendance.

The ‘ultras’ element of the Lazio fanbase were on hand before and during the match – which Lazio won 2-0 – with a number of banners which referred to Celtic’s Irish roots and related specifically to the Irish famine and also labelling Celtic fans as ‘Fenians.’
